The ZL1 was Groundbreaking and Innovative

For many car enthusiasts, the ZL1 suits the definition of the word “favorite” perfectly. A person’s favorite thing is something that is preferred above all others and treated with partiality. This is the case for a great number of people when it comes to the ZL1 corvette.
While there isn’t just one thing that makes these cars so extraordinary, the most popular piece of trivia regarding the ZL1 is that only two of this car model were ever manufactured. The car was designed for a very important individual at GM, a huge error was made and the car found its way onto the assembly line. Two of these models were made before production stopped.
If you’ve ever heard the phrase, “muscle car”, the ZL1 could be the true definition of the term. The speed and force of the 600 horsepower engine made completely out of aluminum with a 437 cubic inch design is the car’s secret weapon. The weight of the engine only adds about thirty extra pounds that any traditional small block would have had yet it provides the ZL1 with two times the amount of torque.
To make the ZL1 even more unique, the cars were not made in the same color. One is yellow and the other one is white. The yellow car was made as a roadster and the white car has a T-top design. Both cars feature 4-speed transmissions. The whereabouts of the white car isn’t publicly known, but the yellow car is said to have been confiscated as part of a drug raid in 1989. A very lucky buyer was able to purchase the yellow ZL1 well below the car’s approximated value.
While the original intention behind the creation of the ZL1 is lost, anyone who has been lucky enough to come across either of these cars has been able to enjoy a rare and powerful piece of Chevrolet history. The ZL1 has a well-deserved reputation and the beauty and power to preserve it.
